The objective is to explore how these technologies can be integrated to improve the collection, processing and interpretation of environmental information in forest ecosystems.
Combining semiconductor technologies and environmental sensing
Forest ecosystems are increasingly affected by factors such as water stress, rising temperatures, pests and wildfires. Monitoring these conditions requires the collection of reliable and continuous information from the environment.
Circular Forest investigates the use of advanced sensors and semiconductor-based technologies, together with photonics, IoT connectivity and AI-based data processing, to obtain and analyse information from forest environments.
The project seeks to establish technological capabilities that can support a better understanding of forest conditions and contribute to more informed decision-making in forest management.
A collaborative R&D approach
One of the key characteristics of Circular Forest is its collaborative approach.
The project brings together different technological and industrial capabilities within the framework of PERTE Chip, combining expertise across the semiconductor value chain with applications in environmental monitoring.
This type of collaboration is essential for developing technologies that can move from research and technological development towards applications addressing real-world environmental challenges.
Circular Forest at Madrid Impacta 2026
As part of the project’s dissemination activities, Circular Forest was presented at Madrid Impacta 2026, where the initiative was selected as one of the finalists.
The following video provides an overview of the project, its technological approach and the challenge it aims to address.
